Blogging and buzzing! An introduction to The Yorkshire Consultancy Co.

A year ago today I was still working within education as a Mental Health Coordinator whilst running my Counselling private practice online. However a chain of events made me pick up the phone and call the Estate Manager at Nostell Priory Business Estate and I secured my very own office. It needed a complete refurb but it was mine and I was going to make a super little Counselling office from it!

As I waited for July to approach so I could start my new business, I couldn't quite let go of something. I was leaving behind a role that I felt passionate about but it felt so undervalued by some. I had learnt so much about mental health in education.... but I had also seen the dangerous gaps. As a Counsellor I have mandatory supervision every month, so did the CAMHS link worker, the Early Help Hub worker, the Social Worker, the School Nurse..... in fact EVERYONE. So I decided to use my knowledge and skills to at least offer a plug for this gap.

I also told a family that I would keep their child in my thoughts as I moved forward and this is more about that child than anyone will ever know.

So fast forward 365 days.....

Here is my office where I have a successful private practice. But it's also the base for my Consultancy business which is taking small steps forward every month and I couldn't love it anymore than I do!

Blogging though?!

If you had told me a year ago that I would be creating a website and adding blogs, I'd have laughed in your face. This dinosaur didn't even know what a blog was.

But here I am and I've even stayed late tonight to finish it off because it was an utterly fabulous idea from my SEO advisor PLUS it gave me a buzz!

So welcome to my first blog, welcome to my vision.... and if you take nothing else from it, please just admire the mini fridge in the corner of my office!
